FLAGGED BEFORE THEY FALL BEHIND
Just One Simple Question - Will Help Millions of Children

ACCORDING TO THE CDC LEARNING DISORDERS HAVE A HIGH HERITABILITY RATE
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
If a parent is diagnosed with ADHD or Learning Disorders such as dyslexia, it is very likely that their child will have one as well. Understanding the family history of children struggling with learning or attention is vital for their health provider to make a proper diagnosis and identify the signs as early as possible. The CDC encourages parents to ask family members if anyone has a learning disability before their child sees a doctor (this includes aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents) because LDs are highly heritable. Dyslexia is a central focus since it makes up 70% of all LDs.
Why isn't the CDC working in sync with the American Association of Pediatricians to have a family history of learning disabilities added to the Universal Health Form?
Our solution is simple. We need to change the Universal Health Form and add a section for LDs. This question needs to be on all Kindergarten prescreening forms in order to minimize the costs that come with catching them late.
